1. What are permissible uses of RightNow Media’s Original content, which is content owned by RightNow Media?
Any content owned by RightNow Media, including our Original content, may be played via our video player on our site or through our secure apps. You can also use our Groups feature to virtually watch content with people who are not in the same location as you. You cannot broadcast our content over Zoom or other videoconferencing technologies. You may include a RNM-owned video in a presentation that is being simulcasted or streamed as long as you do not post the livestream or simulcast for later viewing. If you choose to do so, you will need to edit the video owned by RNM out of the presentation prior to posting it for playback. RNM-owned Originals are designated with an orange banner across the top of the cover page as illustrated in the example below.
There are many permissions necessary for our productions, music being one of the biggest. We have gained the necessary permissions for our Original content to be used in accordance with the ways laid out above. Any other use of the content is strictly prohibited.
2. What are permissible uses of content that is not owned by RightNow Media?
There are many studies on RNM that we do not own and have licensed from third parties to make them available for your use. Because RNM does not own many of the resources on our site, the only permissible use of licensed content is to play the video via our video player on our site or through our secure apps. You can also utilize the Groups feature to virtually watch a study with people who aren’t in your same physical location. Any other use of this content without the copyright owner’s permission is strictly prohibited.
3. I uploaded one of your downloadable illustrations to my social media page. My post was flagged as copyright infringement and there is no volume on the video. What happened?
As the algorithms and technologies of the various social media platforms have become very sophisticated, this is something you will likely experience if you use our content in a prohibited manner. We have to purchase and clear all music rights for particular use in a streaming video on-demand site. We have cleared and paid for our videos’ music rights for use on RNM’s website and apps. We haven’t paid for and cleared prohibited uses of our content. When or if this has happened to you, it means you are using our materials in a prohibited fashion and the various copyright infringement mechanisms utilized by social media platforms are working. If this has happened to you, please remove the video and/or post.
4. I thought downloadable illustrations were freely available for people to use and post however they wanted. Is that not the case?
While we do make many of our illustration videos freely available and downloadable for your use, you can only use them in permissible ways. Using the videos in front of a live audience, in a classroom, during a presentation, etc. are all permissible uses. What you cannot do is download them and repost or rebroadcast them in any way, especially on a social media platform. This is copyright infringement and it is strictly prohibited.
5. How can I use written resources made available on RightNow Media?
RightNow Media allows most of our written resources for our Original content to be freely available (the only exception being for Originals produced in partnership with a publishing house that provides the written content). You can, through our in-app reader, freely download, print, and share these resources with your group. You have no right to republish, sell, or distribute these resources outside of your church/small group. Please note that for resources associated with our licensed content or resources that you have to purchase, you cannot reprint, distribute, make copies, sell, or use those resources in any way that is not in accordance with copyright law. You would need written permission from the copyright owner in order to do so. All other uses are strictly prohibited.
